Overall, the Advanced Development Program at Oakville Soccer Club aims to develop young soccer talents and prepare them for higher levels of competition in the future.
Program Breakdown
Give your player the opportunity to thrive in soccer by enrolling them in OSC’s Advanced Development Program. With dedicated coaches and tailored training, they’ll develop skills, deepen their understanding of the game, and gain the confidence needed to excel on and off the field.
Program Goals for Each Player
Skill Development
ADP focuses on enhancing fundamental soccer skills, such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control. By starting at a young age, participants will build a solid foundation for future growth as a soccer player.
Game Understanding
ADP emphasizes not only individual skills but also helps young players develop a deeper understanding of the game. They learn basic tactics, positioning, and team play, enabling them to make effective decisions on the field and adapt to different game situations.
Confidence and Motivation
Through the program, players will experience success and improvement in their soccer abilities. Witnessing their own progress boosts confidence and fosters a positive attitude towards the game, which has a significant impact on their overall development and enjoyment of soccer.
Long-Term Player Development
This program follows the principles of Long-Term Player Development (LTPD), focusing on age-appropriate training and overall physical development. By enrolling in the program, each player will receive the necessary guidance and support to progress effectively through the various stages of player development.
Enjoyment and Engagement
OSC believes in creating a positive and enjoyable soccer experience for all of the Club’s players. Age-appropriate training sessions and a supportive environment ensure that every player stays engaged and motivated. When children genuinely enjoy their soccer experience, they are more likely to continue participating in the sport, leading to long-term involvement and potential success.

What is the Advanced Development Program?
The Advanced Development Program is an alternative program stream that prepares players ages U8 – U12 for the competitive pathway. This program facilitates skill development, game understanding, confidence building, long-term player development, talent identification, and overall enjoyment of the sport. It sets the stage for future growth and increases the likelihood of continued involvement in soccer.
Players in ADP will train twice a week during weekdays, with the potential enrollment of an indoor competitive league on weekends (age dependent).
OSC will focus its resources on skill development by creating a developmental environment for every player that matches his/her individual playing needs and abilities. As players mature, they need to be given the freedom to move up or down the competitive spectrum, depending on what environment best meets their developmental stage.
