League 1/L1 Reserve Program

League 1 Ontario is a reputable senior soccer league in the Province of Ontario, known for its professional and amateur standards. Founded in 2014 by Ontario Soccer, the league has grown significantly and currently comprises 15 women’s teams and 21 men’s teams. 

In light of the Oakville Soccer Club and Oakville Blue Devil’s partnership, the Blue Devils will conduct tryouts for this program for the 2023/24 season. For more information on the Blue Devils, including tryout information, please click here

Coaches (L1R)

(Women's team)

Gareth Hamilton currently leads the L1 Reserve Women’s team at the Oakville Soccer Club. His tenure is marked by a focus on player development and empowerment.

Hamilton holds the UEFA A license for soccer coaching, earned in 2011, and a Canada Soccer Youth License obtained in 2022. He completed the Ontario Soccer Technical Directors Diploma in 2021, demonstrating his commitment to professional growth, lifelong learning, and expertise in coaching methodologies. Gareth also hold a BA in Physical Education (Qualified Teacher Status) with honours from the University of Brighton, UK.

Prior to his role at Oakville Soccer Club, Gareth served as the Technical Director for Toronto High Park FC, where he played an influential role in shaping the club’s soccer program. As a player, Hamilton represented the Northern Ireland under-18 national team and was awarded a scholarship to play soccer in the United States.

Hamilton emphasizes the importance of empowering athletes to take control of their own development. He fosters a supportive environment that encourages growth and cultivates discipline, perseverance, and a proactive mindset among his players.

Ian Sinclair is the dedicated Head Coach of the Men’s team, bringing a wealth of experience and qualifications to his role. He is a Canada Soccer A License holder, and also has a USSF National B License and a CSA National B License, demonstrating his commitment to continually advancing his coaching abilities. Furthermore, he has earned the prestigious NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, showcasing his expertise in coaching methodologies and player development. He currently serves as an Assistant Coach for the McMaster University Men’s Soccer Team, contributing his knowledge and expertise to collegiate-level players. With his passion for coaching and a strong background in both qualifications and practical experience, Sinclair is poised to lead and guide the Men’s team to achieve their full potential.
