Oakville Soccer Club’s AGM and Volunteer Celebration
The Oakville Soccer Club hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast on Saturday, February 8th. The event brought together members for an engaging morning of key updates and a celebration in honour of the incredible contributions of volunteers to the OSC community.
Keynote speakers, including Mayor Rob Burton, Ontario Soccer Board Chair Alan O’Brien, Oakville Soccer Club President Imdad Ali, and Executive Director Katryna Indewey, thanked members for their commitment while addressing upcoming events and the Club’s strategic objectives.
During the AGM, new Directors Shinjini Biswas Sandhu, Dale Hancocks, and Marcia Mayhew were elected, filling the vacancies left by Tanya Pereira, Petra Haneberry, and Sandip Sahota. We thank the outgoing members for their dedication and service to the club, and we welcome our new Directors, who bring fresh energy and perspectives to the Board.
The Volunteer Celebration recognized outstanding volunteers with awards, including Young Volunteers of the Year Lisa Hasku and Karam Ogeil, as well as Competitive Coaches of the Year Ian Sinclair and Dan Zingone. Melody Gonsalves was honored as Volunteer of the Year, and John Bettio received the President’s Award.
House League Coach of the year awards were presented to (listed in order of division coached, youngest to oldest): Denise Parent, Yahya Amer, Farhad Shahla, Adriano Vissa, Justin Orsini, Paolo Marzicola, Martin Andre, George Azcurra, Julia Greco, Nicole Kisiel, Johann Dias, Mario Boissiere, Danny Kabeya, Michela Franzé-Da Silva, Daniel Romero,Mazen Rammal, Deanna Carless and Daniel Estrada.
Reflecting on the event, Katryna Indewey said, “I love our AGM and Volunteer Breakfast—it’s a time to celebrate our achievements, unite as a community, and look forward. It’s a reminder of why we do what we do and the incredible people behind it all.”
